At The Westport School our classrooms are uniquely designed to meet the individual developmental needs of children as they grow through our school. We serve families with children ages 6 weeks to 14 years old. Please feel free to browse this page and learn more about each classroom and be sure to visit our Photo Gallery for additional pictures.

Our infant/toddler classroom consists of three distinct areas:
We have a separate sleeping room with cribs and a changing table so infants can nap quietly and undisturbed.
Our play area for the infants is designed to meet the various stages of development during the first year of life. Our Toddler play area, while separate from the Infants, is purposely designed to enable the infants to see and interact with the toddlers and caregivers. This makes your child's first transition to their next classroom a smooth and pleasant one.
The Toddler play area is designed for the active toddler. Following a group schedule, the teachers plan and implement activities in the areas of art, language and stories, gross and fine motor skills and movement and music.
Several unique features of our program include:
Daily Reports not only provide a summary of your child's day, but the reports also have ample room for you to indicate your child's specific needs when you bring your child into our center each day.
Our two and early three year old program fosters creativity, self help skills and fun as children transition from infancy to the start of their preschool years.
With the use of a thematic program and the following developmental centers, the children are encouraged to explore and interact in the areas of art, science, math language, movement and music and dramatic play.
The following features are unique to our two-year program:
A separate playground specifically for two's with equipment just their size.

Elementary School Age Before and After School Program And Summer Camp
Our school-age latchkey program is set up for children to attend before and after elementary school. Breakfast and afternoon snacks are available each day. In the afternoon there are a variety of centers open such as a homework center, computer center, art center, and board game center.
During elementary school holidays, teacher conference days and Spring and Winter breaks, we offer full-day programs that include outings and activities planned especially for the school-age child. In fact, the students themselves play a big role in planning these special days.

Several special features of our Preschool Classroom include:
Weekly Reports and Activity Schedules are sent home to each parent to enhance communication and encourage parent involvement.
Large Outdoor Playground on two levels with trikes, basketball, and picnic area on one level and climbers, slides, fort and sandbox safely on another level.
Optional Aerobic and Fitness Programs are available September through May.
Optional Off Site Swimming Lessons available during the summer months focusing on water safety and fun.
(Three to Early Four-Year Olds)
Our Preschool Room concentrates on providing development for the whole child. The early childhood learning program is enhanced around a weekly theme to encourage and stimulate social, emotional and cognitive development. A variety of activities including art, science, math, sensory exploration, movement and music, language and prewriting skills are incorporated into a well rounded program designed with the three and early four year old child in mind.
